Isle of Dogs was always a unique movie of its kind owing to the fact that the entire film was animated in stop-motion format. The US-German co-production premiered at the 2018 Berlinale and had acquired more than $59 million since it was distributed worldwide on the 13th of April via Fox Searchlight Pictures. The distribution rights of this award-winning movie was also bought by Fox Star Studios, which finally revealed intentions of releasing the movie in India in July.

Isle of Dogs was produced by the collaboration of Indian Paintbrush, and producer-director-writer Wes Anderson’s personal production company – American Empirical Pictures. Wes Anderson, who received the Best Direction award for Isle of Dogs at the Berlinale, is also very famous for movies like Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Moonrise Kingdom. The auteur hired famous A-list celebrities like Jeff Goldblum, Scarlett Johansson, and Tilda Swinton to fill in as the voice cast for the Isle of Dogs. The movie itself holds an 89% rating at Rotten Tomatoes, and has received much critical acclaim for its political theme and subtext delivered with appropriate deadpan humour.

Isle of Dogs is an animated movie which revolves around the life of a boy who sets out in search of his dog and ends up in an island where all canines had been quarantined after an outbreak of canine-flu in dystopian Japan. The movie retained many of its original manga style exposure, and 2D anime style editing. A total of 1000 puppets are said to have been handmade from scratch for each individual character, with every hero puppet requiring over 16 weeks to build. After a long wait, Fox Star Studios has announced that the movie will be released on the 6th of July on all silver screens of India, with special aid from distribution company Runaway-Luminosity.
