Ayan Mukherji statement

“In the past week, I have learned that all the teams working on the movie, led by my
VFX teams need more time in order to get the VFX right, to get the sound and
music right, and eventually to get the film right. With that in mind, we are moving
from Christmas 2019 as our goal for the release of the movie,” Ayan explained in the statement.

“Our release date is now slated for summer 2020 but we will announce this officially once we are absolutely certain of the date,” the statement read.

The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh BachchanAlia BhattMouni Roy, and Akkineni Nagarjuna in pivotal roles.

It is financed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Fox Star Studios. It is the first part of the planned epic trilogy. The film is reportedly a sci-fi movie based on the principles of ancient Hindu mythology but set in modern India and the first part of the trilogy.

Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji had told the media in an interaction, “It’s a modern-day film set in India as it exists today. But the reason it’s called Brahmastra is that the energies, wisdom, powers in the film come from ancient India. That’s all I would say. There are some costumes, maybe not the way you’d expect them to be.”
