The new kid in the block who became popular with a well known reality show Roadies and then went on to become a  popular VJ and host has now successfully carved a niche for himself in Bollywood. Ayushmann Khurrana has been doing some interesting movies making him ‘hatke’ than all of his contemporaries.

Ayushmann has been choosing a number of dynamic roles that are peculiar to his taste. His subject driven choice of films is not only being acclaimed critically but is also getting ample amount of commercial validation. Be it the role of a sperm donor or a man with erectile dysfunction, Ayushmann never ceases to surprise us with his choice and also with his wonderful performances onscreen.

In an interview the actor talked about this unique choice. He said, “I want to own this space. I started like that and I have that in me as an actor. I would love to act in such subjects (like that of a sperm donor, erectile dysfunction). It is important to have your own space as an actor”.

He, however, is not willing to stick to a particular genre and wants to show variety. He stated, “I have to shift gears like I am doing a thriller film with Sriram Raghavan, it is an exciting genre for me. I am happy in this kind of space and I will continue to choose films that are interesting”.

Ayushmann has had a good past year with movies such as Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and is willing to bring newness for his audiences with each of his films. He said, “You need to see how interesting, engaging and novel a script is before saying ‘yes’ or ‘no’. There are different medium available today to tell stories… In terms of films, you need to show the audience something that they have never experienced before”.

The versatile actor who recently also produced a short film Toffee based on child marriage, directed by his wife Tahira, is not reluctant to try other mediums of entertainment such as the digital platform. According to him, “I have never thought about it as I am busy with acting in films. But anything that is radical and path-breaking, I would love to be part of it. I would love to act in it, be it as an actor or anchor on web”.

Ayushmann will soon be seen on silver screen in the film Badhaai Ho alongside Dangal  fame Sanya Malhotra.
