Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Bala is going very strong at the box office. The film has registered consistently good numbers through out the seven days and is not very far from the coveted Rs 100 crore club.

Even it has grossed Rs 100 crore worldwide but the nett collection after the deduction of taxes, etc is Rs 90.18 crore.

At the end of its first week, the film’s total business of one week is Rs 72.24 crore at the domestic box office while it collected Rs 17.94 crore overseas putting the total figure at Rs 90.18 crore.

After registering over Rs 9 crore on Tuesday – the day of Guru Nanak Jayanti, the film collected Rs 5.20 crore and Rs 5.31 crore on Wednesday and Thursday. The film is likely to cross 100 crore mark in terms of nett collection in the coming week.

It has already become the biggest opening film of Ayushmann’s career beating Dream Girl by a slight margin. It has also left behind Dream Girl in bringing highest numbers on first Monday.

Film trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh took to his social media account to share the business figures of Bala. He wrote, “#Bala is fantastic… Plexes were super-strong… Collects in same range as #DreamGirl [Week 1: ₹ 72.20 cr]… Should score at multiplexes in Week 2… Fri 10.15 cr, Sat 15.73 cr, Sun 18.07 cr, Mon 8.26 cr, Tue 9.52 cr, Wed 5.20 cr, Thu 5.31 cr. Bala that was released on 8 November has also become Ayushmann Khurrana’s second biggest opening weekend film with a collection of Rs 43.95 crore. It is a little behind Dream Girl which collected Rs 44.57 crore on its first weekend.

Talking about the overwhelming response received by the film, Ayushmann said, “With Bala, we are sending out some really strong and powerful social messages in the most entertaining manner possible and I’m delighted that the film has instantly connected with audiences on day one.”

“I only hope that the film entertains the whole of India because only this way we will be able to communicate everything that Bala is trying to say and spark a thought shift,” added the actor.

He calls the script of Bala one of “my most precious scripts to date”, adding: “I’m really happy with the love and adulation that our film is getting”.

Bala is a satirical comedy that deals with the subject of premature balding and the societal pressure that comes with it. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam in the lead roles. Javed Jaffrey, Seema Pahwa and Saurabh Shukla appear in supporting roles.

The film is directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan.
