Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification Pahlaj Nihalani had initially given orders for 48 cuts in the movie, after giving an ‘A’ certificate. The news comes a day after the appointment of adman-lyricist Prasoon Joshi as the new chairman of the CBFC.

Director Kushan Nandy also thanked Indian Film and Television Director Association (IFTDA), along with the directors such as Vikramaditya Motwane, Satish Kaushik and Abhishek Chaubey for their support.

Earlier, the movie “Babumoshai Bandookbaaz” had run into trouble with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which has raised objections to the cuss words and some scenes in the film. The censor board has been given 48 cuts in the movie despite getting an ‘A’ certificate.

After all this, Nawazuddin defended the movie by saying, “When conditions (referring to CBFC rules) are such that you are scared to even improvise and say something wrong, that’s a scary situation to be in.” Nawazudiin said that the character will speak the language of the area as it makes them authentic. He said, “Sometimes abuses are added to give weight to the character and add a local flavour. The more local the film is, the more global it will be. If you wash out films like this, then our outcome on the international platform will be zero.”

The movie is set to release on 25 August 2017.
