It is rare in Bollywood that female actors get to play meaty parts in big films especially in those where they are paired opposite an A list male actor. While Kriti Sanon has impressed the audience with her performance in successful films like Bareily Ki Barfi and Luka Chuppi, she did not get to play a substantial part in her last film Housefull 4 with megastar Akshay Kumar.
She recently got another big film titled Bachchan Pandey with Akshay Kumar from the team of Housefull 4. As soon as the official announcement was made trolls started coming in that she would have only a few scenes and a couple of songs in the film and nothing substantial to do.
Director Farhad Samji has put an end to such speculations. During a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, the director opened up about Kritis’s role and said, “It is better than parallel hero’s role. It is a very meaty role not done by any other actress in the past.”
“But she will also get to do songs but will have a substantial part to play as well,” he joked.
According to some online reports, Kriti will be playing the character of a South Indian girl in the film for which she is also learning the dialect. She is also reported to have some action sequences in the movie.
The announcement of Kriti joinng the cast of Bachchan Pandey was made on the official Twitter account of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment (NGE). The post read, “We’re extremely happy and elated to announce the charming @kritisanon is here to make our Christmas 2020 merrier than ever! ????

In response to the announcement, Kriti also made a tweet expressing her joy to reunite with the team. Her tweet read, “Thrilled and beyond excited for this reunion!! ???????????????????? On the work front, this year has turned out extremely fruitful for Kriti. She gave the super hit Luka Chuppi earlier this year and is currently enjoying the mega success of her latest Housefull 4 which has entered the Rs 200 crore club.
She has another big release Panipat coming up in December and she is also shooting for Mimi which is based on the practice of surrogacy in India.
Speaking of Bachchan Pandey, the film was supposed to release in December next year but as of now it has been postponed. According to a source close to development, the scripting of Bachchan Pandey is underway and it will be a while before the final draft is ready. The pre-production too will be a time-consuming affair. The postponement of the film will avoid the clash with Aamir Khan’s passion project, Laal Singh Chaddha
