The medium Budget movie ‘Badhaai Ho’ outstripped the big budget movie ‘Thugs of Hindostan’. It is quite shocking because the film stars two Bollywood biggies, and filmmakers claimed that it is the most expensive film in Hindi cinema till date.

A year ago it was said that just the face of Amir Khan was enough to make the film a super-duper hit blockbuster, that his every film breaks his previous one’s record, but this time even his perfectionist’s charm couldn’t work and the film became the biggest flop till date.

The opening was marvelous, as expected but thanks to the word of mouth and not so good reviews, the film fell flat in its first weekend. Now it is just crawling to cross at least Rs 150 crores at the box office.

On the other hand Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Badhaai Ho’ is in business even after 5 weeks of its release. The movie might enter Rs 200 crore club soon.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “This is a SHOCKER… #ThugsOfHindostan may be the most expensive Hindi film, with Aamir Khan enjoying an enviable following in international markets, but its *lifetime biz* in #USA + #Canada and #Australia will be lower than #BadhaaiHo… Content wins and how! #TOH”

Filmmakers should learn from the dire result of ‘TOH’, that they cannot woo public by grand sets, big Bollywood names and Katrina’s item number anymore. The audience wants to see a good story and plot.
