After registering his career best opening, Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Bala continues to see good growth at the box office. The film collected Rs 10.15 crore on the opening day which is more than any other film of Ayushmann for day one.

The film saw a good growth of nearly 60 percent on its second day and collected Rs 15.73 crore on Saturday. The collections were a little lower than initial estimates as some cities were closed in UP, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh as the Supreme Court verdict on the Ayodhya issue was awaited.

The film continued to see rise in its business on Sunday as smaller cities also joined the party on day three. The film collected Rs 18.07 crore on Sunday putting the total collection of first weekend at Rs 43.95 crore.

Bala that was released on 8 November has become Ayushmann Khurrana’s second biggest opening weekend film. It is a little behind Dream Girl which collected Rs 44.57 crore on its first weekend. The Monday business will be crucial as it will give an idea of its lifetime business.

Film trade analyst and criitc Taran Adarsh shared the fihurs on his Twitter handle. He wrote. “#Bala is rocking… Packs a fantastic total in its opening weekend… Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities – which were decent/good – join the party on Day 3… Mon biz crucial, will give an idea of its lifetime biz… Fri 10.15 cr, Sat 15.73 cr, Sun 18.07 cr. Total: ₹ 43.95 cr. #India biz.”

Talking about the film’s overwhelming business of first day, Ayushmann said, “With Bala, we are sending out some really strong and powerful social messages in the most entertaining manner possible and I’m delighted that the film has instantly connected with audiences on day one.”

“I only hope that the film entertains the whole of India because only this way we will be able to communicate everything that ‘Bala’ is trying to say and spark a thought shift,” added the actor.

He calls the script of Bala one of “my most precious scripts to date”, adding: “I’m really happy with the love and adulation that our film is getting”.

Bala is a satirical comedy that deals with the subject of premature balding and the societal pressure that comes with it. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam in the lead roles. Javed Jaffrey, Seema Pahwa and Saurabh Shukla appear in supporting roles.

The film is directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan.
