Prominent Tamil film director Balaji Sakthivel has been roped in for Dhanush’s next ‘Asuran’. The director, making his acting debut with this film, confirmed the news of being a part of the movie being directed by national award-winning director Vetrimaaran and produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu’s V Creations.

Confirming to DNA, Balaji Sakthivel said, “Yes, I play a significant role in Asuran. However, I’m currently not at liberty to divulge more details about my character.”

Balaji refused to reveal any more details about the movie and denied answering the most important question of all which was whether he will be seen in the negative role or not.

‘Asuran’, which is based on the novel, ‘Vekkai’ penned by Sahitya Akademi Award-winning writer Poomani, also marks the Tamil debut of senior Malayalam actress Manju Warrier. Manju will be seen as Dhanush’s wife in the film, which is set in the backdrop of land grabbing.

The shooting of the film has been started two weeks ago. This is the fourth successive project of Vetrimaaran and Dhanush together after ‘Pollathavan’, ‘Aadukalam’ and ‘Vada Chennai’.

Composer GV Prakash will give music to the film. Ken Karunas, son of actor Karunas will also be seen in a key role in ‘Asuran’.

Balaji started his career with Tamil film ‘Samurai’ in 2002, his last released movie was Tamil language film ‘Yaar Ivargal’. He has also directed Malayalam, Kannada and Bengali films.
