A still from Bandish Bandits

Can classic music ever go hand in hand with pop culture? Well, this is a quite complex question as it relates to two different cultures and we as of now have no idea if these two themes could go hand in hand without any problem or not. The upcoming Prime original web series titled Bandish Bandits will explore the roots of these two different and opposite themes. Directed by Anand Tiwary, this narrative follows the story of how these two cultures team up and what are their consequences or the stereotypes relating to traditions and all.

It revolves around Radhe (Ritwik Bhowmik), an aspiring Hindustani classical singer of the royal Rathod family rooting from Jodhpur, who teams up and falls in love with Tamanna (Shreya Chaudhry), a pop sensation from Mumbai. The glittery of the town fascinates Radhe which eventually makes his grandfather and teacher Radhe Mohan Rathod (Naseeruddin Shah) upset. Will the family myths and traditions be a hurdle to this epic mixture of culture they have created?

The story seems to be an interesting take on the mixture of different cultures and it will explore how art has no traditions or restrictions, it is only bound with freedom. The series will be a musical treat and a lot of things will be conveyed through the medium of interesting songs. The rest of the cast includes Atul Kulkarni, Sheeba Chaddha, Rajesh Tailang, and Kunaal Roy Kapur.

The soundtracks for this series are composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy which makes it even more interesting. And the songs will be an important part of the story considering the narrative format. The series will be streaming on Amazon Prime from August 4.
