Ihana Dhillon, who made her Bollywood debut in Vishal Pandya directorial Hate Story 4 last year, has joined the cast of Bhuj: The Pride of India, according to a report in Mumbai Mirror. Dhillon, who has primarily appeared in Punjabi movies, will be seen opposite Punjabi actor Amy Virk in the film.

Speaking about her role in the film, Dhillon said, “My role as wife of an Air Force officer is strong and inspiring. This is the first time I am enacting such a role. It’s a beautiful well-written character and I really enjoyed shooting for it. My director Abhishek ji had a very clear vision of what he wanted and he portrayed Simran’s character very beautifully on screen.”

“Every female character in the film is strong, independent. Being a part of Bhuj, I feel blessed as it’s a great script and great team. The courage shown by 300 women in 1971 in Bhuj is something we are all proud of and it is time to celebrate the victory of these women,” she told the news daily.

Bhuj: The Pride of India is based on an incident during the Indo-Pak War in 1971. It tells the story of Indian Air Force Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik who was incharge of Bhuj airport at that time. He along with his team and the help of 300 local women reconstructed the IAF airbase that was destroyed during the war.

While Ajay Devgn will be seen portraying Karnik, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Rana Daggubati will be seen playing other pivotal roles.

Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, the film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Ginny Khanuja, Vajir Singh, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Dudhaiya under the banners of T-Series and Select Media Holdings LLP.

The film is scheduled to be released on 14 August next year.
