A few days ago Bollywood lost lyricist Yogesh and now it has lost another one. Anwar Sagar who wrote lyrics in several films of the 80s and 90s passed away on Wednesday afternoon at the age of 70. The lyricist died because of age related ailments according to unconfirmed sources.

Anwar gained popularity for writing the song ‘Waada Raha Sanam’ in Akshay Kumar’s 1992 hit film ‘Khiladi’. He also wrote the song ‘Yeh dua hai mere rab se’ for the film ‘Sapne Saajan Ke’. Gaining popularity in the 90s, he went on to write songs for films such as ‘Vijayapath’ starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu and David Dhawan’s  1994 film ‘Yaraana’.

He first got his first big break as a lyricist with Shakti Kapoor’s 1982 film ‘Zakhmi Insaan’. Anwar also sang as a playback singer in Akshay Kumar’s ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’.

Having worked with legendary music directors such as Nadeem-Shravan, Rajesh Roshan, Jatin-Lalit and Anu Malik, Anwar has left his mark in Bollywood. His last work was in the 2002 film, ‘Kitne Door Kitne Paas’ starring Fardeen Khan and Amrita Arora.
