Songs are nothing without lyrics. Lyrics provide an emotional depth to them and a good lyricist is one whose lyrics touches its listeners heart. Yogesh Gaur commonly known as Yogesh in Bollywood was one such artist. On Friday, He passed away at the age of 77.
He has left the world, leaving behind him his legendary lyrics in two of the most popular songs in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s cult film Anand(1971). The songs are “Kahin duur jab din dhal jaye” and “Zindagi kaisi hai paheli”.
A common lyricist for directors Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee, Yogesh made his debut in 1962 with ‘Sakhi Robin’. He wrote six songs in his debut film and went on to write songs for films like Chhoti Si Baat (1976), Baton Baton Mein (1979), Manzil (1979), Rajnigandha (1974) and many more.
Music legend and singer, Lata Mangeshkar took to Twitter to pay her tribute to him. She posted :

When in an old interview, Yogesh was asked ‘What inspired him to write?’ The late lyricist replied “I wrote what I saw and lived. I have always written about the people around me.”
Born in Lucknow, On March 19, 1943 his last work was in the film Angrezi mein kehte hain(2017).
