After announcing the remake of Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer ‘Pink’ in Tamil as ‘AK 59’, Boney Kapoor plans to remake ‘Badhaai Ho’ in Tamil and Telugu. The film is about the embarrassment attached with an unplanned pregnancy in older women. Set in middle-class Delhi household, the cast of the Hindi film includes Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra, Gajraj Rao, and Sulekha Sikri.

For the ‘Pink’ remake, Tamil superstar Ajith will take the role of Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan, in a special appearance will play his wife. Shraddha Srinath will reprise the role of Taapsee Pannu. ‘AK 59’ will mark the debut of Vidya Balan in Tamil films. Vidya recently made her Telugu debut with ‘NTR Kathanayakudu’, a biopic on cinema legend and great political leader NTR Rama Rao.

‘AK 59’ was officially launched last December in Chennai and the opening ceremony was immediately followed by regular shooting. A per the statement, the film is helmed by H. Vinoth, it also features Rangaraj Pandey, Adhik Ravichandran, Arjun Chidambaram, Abhirami Venkatachalam, Andrea Tariang, Aswin Rao and Sujith Shankar among others. Yuvan Shankar Raja has been signed to compose music.

“‘Pink’ is the first, and there will be many more to follow. I have the rights of ‘Badhaai Ho’ as well, which will also be planned in Telugu and Tamil,” Boney informed DNA.

The producer has dedicated ‘Pink’ remake to his late wife Sridevi, as she had convinced Ajith to be a part of the film. Boney has remade many 16 south Indian films into Hindi, including ‘Woh Saat Din’ (1983), ‘Loafer’ (1996), ‘No Entry’ (2005) and ‘Wanted’ (2007).
