After opening to underwhelming numbers on the first day of its release, Salman Khan starrer Dabangg 3 managed to collect Rs 81.15 crore in its opening weekend. The figure might be a fantastic number for any other film but for a film like Dabangg 3 it is not just up to the mark.

The film collected Rs 24.50 crore on its first day. It saw a similar business on the second day with a collection of Rs 24.75 crore. The film finally saw a limited growth and partially gained lost ground on the third day and collected Rs 31.90 crore.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his social media account to share the business figures. He also pointed out that the film has lost a major chunk of opening weekend business due to the ongoing protests against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC). Had it not been hit by the protests, the film would have collected Rs 12 crore more.

According to a report on Box Office India, the film has been affected worst in Delhi / UP market where it could perform much better. These two places are also heavily affected by the protests. It’s collection in these two circuits should have been just 10-15 percent below Mumbai but now it is almost 50 percent lower.

The regional versions (Kannada, Tamil, Telugu) of the film are not doing well either but that is expected as Hindi films dubbed in southern languages rarely perform well at the box office.

Besides Salman Khan, Dabangg 3 also features Sonakshi Sinha, Arbaaz Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Kiccha Sudeepa, and Mahie Gill in key roles. The film marks the debut of Mahesh Manjrekar’s daughter Saiee Manjrekar. Produced by Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan under their respective banners of Salman Khan Films and Arbaaz Khan Productions, the film is directed by Prabhudeva.
