The trailer of Malayalam film C U Soon released yesterday, the first and direct impression after watching the trailer reminded me of the 2018 film Searching but after reading and researching out on the premises of both these films and comparing them I realized that this upcoming Malayalam film is completely an original concept shot on a phone in this lockdown, this thriller seems to be filled with tons of mysteries. The film stars Fahadh Faasil, Roshan Mathew, and Darshana Rajendran.
In the trailer, we see Roshan and Darshana meeting each other via social media platforms while the latter keeps her life as a mystery. Roshan’s character gives details about his life to her and she refrains from doing so. However, there’s something weird about her as their talk progresses. The whole film is digitally shot and comprises of the cuts which will definitely excite the viewers to watching this flick.
Fahadh plays the role of Roshan’s cousin and warns him of Darshana’s mysterious approach but unfortunately, both of them are strangled in this chaos. This is a completely new and virtual concept that has been never explored in the Indian Cinema. Defining itself under the genre of suspense and mysteries, this film will definitely open up the boundaries of new and unique concepts of filmmaking, creating a new wave of cinema.
The premise as described by the makers goes as, “C U Soon is a gripping drama about a software engineer from Kerala who has been assigned by his family to help his Dubai-based cousin find his missing fiancee after she leaves behind a video-based suicide note.” Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, the film is all set for an OTT release on Amazon Prime Video premiering on September 1.
