Marvel Studios’ ‘Captain Marvel‘, which hit theatres worldwide two weeks ago, emerged as the biggest blockbusters ever led by a woman. The film witnessed big drops over the weekdays of the first week.
With ₹14.25 crores at the Indian box office in its second weekend, ‘Captain Marvel’ is expected to reach up to ₹80 crore net and stand among the top ten Hollywood films ever in India. Its collection in India has reached up to around ₹70 crores in just 10 days.
The film opened with ₹12.85 crores net in India becoming one of the biggest Hollywood openers in the country.
The twenty-first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) ‘Captain Marvel’ which released on International Women’s Day, is the Marvel Studios’ first female-led superhero film.
According to Studio estimates, the film opened to $153 million domestically and $455 million globally. This is not the only record it set up, it created history by setting a new worldwide mark for a film directed or co-directed by a woman. The film was directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who previously made the indies “Half Nelson” and “Mississippi Grind.”
