Bollywood actress Chitrangda Singh says that the break in her career was not at all planned. She made her acting career in 2003 with Sudhir Mishra’s movie titled ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’. After that, she was hailed by the Hindi Film industry as the next Smita Patil.
However, her career graph took an unexpected turn and it was quite unlike other overnight sensation. She got disappeared for two years only to resurface with another Sudhir Mishra production, Kal: Yesterday and Tomorrow. The movie somehow failed to replicate the success of her debut. Then, the actress returned to Delhi just to emerge again in 2008 with the Onir’s Sorry Bhai, which she did opposite Sharman Joshi and Sanjay Suri.
In the year 2011, she made her comeback entry with the Bollywood movie titled ‘Desi Boyz’. The movie features John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, and Akshay Kumar. The actress last two appearances were special appearance songs in the Tamil movies ‘Anjan’ and in the Akshay Kumar’s 2014 movie titled ‘Gabbar Is Back’.
Recently, she did a cameo role in the Tiger Shroff’s movie ‘Munna Michael’ and she is gearing up for the upcoming movie titled ‘Baazaar’, which will be directed by Nikkhil Advani. In that movie, she will be seen opposite actor Saif Ali Khan. According to the recent reports, she has even joined the cast of the Tigmanshu Dhulia’s third ‘Saheb Biwi Gangster’ movie.
In that movie, she will be seen opposite Sanjay Dutt. When asked the actress that how is the re-emergence is different from the last one? On this, she replies that this is the first time when she will be turning the producer also. However, her first project is Shaad Ali’s Sandeep Singh biopic which is featuring singer Diljit Dosanjh in the lead.
She says that the second one is a co-production along with the director Anees Bazmee, which is set to be directed by Dolly Ki Doli helmer Abhishek Dogra. An actress Chitrangda evades on the subject of her taking a break from the Hindi cinema, she says that it was not all planned move and that is what all she has to say.
In the month of September, she has already started shooting for the movie titled ‘Saheb Biwi aur Gangster 3’ and the shooting is going on in Bikaner. She says that the director and she were supposed to work together back in 1977 when the director was making his first movie but somehow that project did not work out for both of them.
If that movie happens then it would have probably been her first movie instead of the movie ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’. Moreover, he says that today neither of them would recall why the collaboration between the two did not happen. About the maker of the movie, he says that he is extremely edgy and he just loves his style of making the movie. She is very happy that now she is finally got a chance to work along with him.
Currently, she is shooting in Jodhpur and she was born in Jodhpur and since she does not remember much from her early days. However, she often takes the time out from her work and she is revisiting her roots. She says that her mom told her about the army hospital where she was born and even her mom told her the room number. When she saw the place she felt very special. Moreover, she got to know that she has been named Jodhabai. She says that there was a lady who was taking care of her when she was a kid and she used to call her Jodhabai and she says that she is glad that her mother did not follow her and did not give her the name Jodhabai.
Coming back on the movie, she says that the movie has a great feel. They are staying in a fort which is 300 years old and there are so many things to know there. She feels that it is totally a different world altogether. She is playing a Rajasthani girl in the movie and this show that from her outfit and the way she speaks. However, she says that the look is not at all urban and we had to work on the costumes carefully by keeping many things in a mind. To essay the role she has also taken some dance lessons as part of her preparation so that they can get the traditional moves right.
The movie ‘Baazaar’ will be directed by Gauravv K Chawla and the movie also features Radhika Apte and debutant Rohan Mehra. About her character, she says that she is playing a girl named Mandira and she is a city girl, her body language will surely convey the confidence. She will be playing Saif Ali Khan’s wife and the movie will revolve around the Indian stock market.
