Vidyut Jammwal and Adah Sharma starrer Commando 3 has been creating a lot of buzz since the launch of its trailer that crossed 17 million views within 24 hours which is no small feat.

Commando can be undeniably called one of the biggest action franchise in Bollywood. While the first two installments of the franchise Commando: A One Man Army and Commando 2: The Black Money Trail were directed by Dilip Ghosh and Deven Bhojani, the third film is directed by Aditya Datt.

There is huge gap between Commando 3 and Aditya’s last directorial project for the big screen. His last film was adventure thriller Table No. 21 that starred Rajeev Khandelwal and came out around six years ago.

Aditya recently talked about how he got the third installment of such a big franchise despite a lull period of six years. While speaking to Mumbai Mirror, he revealed that it was Vidyut who liked his last film Table No. 21 and asked his take on action genre.

“I told him I’d love to explore the genre. I guess when he and Vipul sir (producer Vipul Shah) discussed making Commando 3, my name cropped up. Vipul sir narrated the plot, after which I gave my inputs. They liked my idea of a different narrative, in terms of tonality, look and treatment, from the first two films,” he said.

He further added that he wanted this film to be more realistic and believable. “My moot point was that the narrative had to be as strong as the action. I wanted our film to be in a more believable space and not have the protagonist randomly beating people. I’ve tried to show the human side of Karanveer Singh Dogra which wasn’t explored in the first two outings. Even the camerawork in action sequences is distinct,” he concluded.

Commando 3 stars Vidyut Jammwal, his co-star from the second installment Adah Sharma, Gulshan Devaiah  and marks the Bollywood debut of Angira Dhar.

Presented by Reliance Entertainment and Motion Picture Capital in association with Sun Shine Pictures, the Vipul Amrutlal Shah Production will release on November 29.
