While it was reported earlier that the makers of Housefull 4, Sajid Nadiadwala and Farhad Samji, have finalized Kriti for their next production venture Bachchan Pandey, it has been now officially confirmed that Kriti will be starring in the film opposite Akshay Kumar.
“Farhad who worked with Kriti in Housefull 4 liked her professional attitude towards her work and offered her the lead part in his next directorial as well. There were a few other actresses vying for the same role but Kriti topped their list,” an industry source said.
The source also revealed that Kriti will be seen playing a South Indian character in the film. “Unlike other masala film, the female lead has an important part to play in Bachchan Pandey. Kriti is also learning a particular dialect that suits the South Indian character that she’s going to play in the project. Along with Akshay, she also has a few action scenes so the team needed someone who’s good with action and acting equally,” the source said.

In response to the announcement, Kriti also made a tweet expressing her joy to reunite with the team. Her tweet read, “Thrilled and beyond excited for this reunion!! ???????????????????? Kriti Sanon must be on cloud nine as this year has turned out extremely fruitful for her. She gave the super hit Luka Chuppi earlier this year and is currently enjoying the mega success of her latest Housefull 4 which has entered the Rs 200 crore club.
She has another big release Panipat coming up in December and she is also shooting for Mimi is based on the practice of surrogacy in India.
Coming back to Bachchan Pandey, the film was supposed to release in December next year but as of now it has been postponed. According to a source close to development, the scripting of Bachchan Pandey is underway and it will be a while before the final draft is ready. The pre-production too will be a time-consuming affair. The postponement of the film will avoid the clash with Aamir Khan’s passion project, Laal Singh Chaddha
