The upcoming film Coolie No. 1, which is a remake of a 1995 film of the same name, will feature a popular song of the 1990s from the original film, according to a report on entertainment website Bollywood Hungama. Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan starrer will feature the remake of song Main Toh Raste Se Ja Raha Tha.
The report also revealed that the dance steps in the new version will be exact replica of the original. A source close to the film’s team told the publication, “Varun and Sara have been told by David Dhawan to study the exact dance steps. They aren’t easy. Govinda and Karisma (Kapoor) were the best dancers we had. Varun and Sara cannot hope to match up with them. But they will try.”
David Dhawan, who is directing the remake and also helmed the original film, was considering to rope in Govinda and Karisma Kapoor, who appeared in the original song, for the remix version. But the idea was later dropped.
Besides Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan, the film also features Jaaved Jaaferi and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. Rawal will be seen reprising the role of the heroine’s father Hoshiyaar Chand, which was portrayed by the late Kader Khan in the original film.
Coolie No. 1 is being produced by production company Pooja Entertainment owned by Vashu Bhagnani who also co-produced the original film with Ramesh Taurani. The film is expected to be theatrically released in India on 1 May 2020, the occasion of International Workers’ Day.
