There is no one on this planet who likes, when an important event gets delayed. In Mumbai, no one would love if the JIO MAMI Mumbai Film Festival gets cancelled. Although, outside conditions don’t care about what someone likes or dislikes, as a result the festival is cancelled.

You all must have a hint about the reason why the festival is cancelled, well if you are not having any clue then let us tell you why. On Tuesday, The Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI), announced the cancellation of the festival. This was done, because of COVID-19 and the uncertain environment it has created.

As member of the board of trustees at MAMI, Isha Ambani released a statement and said :

“It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to postpone the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2020 to next year. It is our responsibility to do everything we can to keep our communities safe during this crisis. We promise that the festival will come back with fullness in spirit and enthusiasm for our beloved city of Mumbai.”

While, director of the festival, Anupam Chopra added :

“We will focus and put our might behind our Year Round Programme’s digital imprint that has already created a stir. As we carve the path ahead, we would like to thank our partners, sponsors, collaborators and the filmmaking community for standing by us.”

Now since the festival is taking place next year, Indian films selected for it, will be announced soon. Notable actress, as Deepika Padukone is the chairperson of MAMI.
