The Indian film industry is staring at huge losses because of the lockdown. While it is impossible to shoot new films, the post production work of many completed films are also hanging. In light of this situation, Indian Motion Pictures’ Production Association (IMPPA) has written a letter to chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray.

In the letter, the association is requesting the chief minister to allow the post-production work of the films. The IMPPA has expressed their concern regarding the welfare of their workers in the letter. The producers and workers in the entertainment industry are facing a difficult time, with no source of income being available to them in this period. Since their survival is essential for the industry to run in future, IMPPA has highlighted their plight in the letter.

Further, the IMPPA requested that members be allowed to go ahead and complete the post production of their films and other entertainment products “as in majority of cases, all the shooting and other work has been completed except for the editing, dubbing and post production which are all activities performed indoors in secluded offices with very limited number of personnel like in editing only 2 or 3 persons and in mixing and special effects also only 2/3 persons are required and these activities can safely be carried out maintaining full social distancing after taking all safety and security precautions.”

FWICE, a parent body of 32 different crafts of workers and technicians of the industry had pleaded the same thing.
