‘Dabangg 3’ set to beat ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ and become Bollywood’s widest release with 5400 screens

Salman Khan starrer Dabangg 3 is one of the most anticipated films of the year. As the release date of the film coming closer, the excitement of the fans and the buzz around the movie is growing exponentially.

There is also speculation around the movie’s box office business as it is the third installment of one of the most successful Bollywood movie franchise. The previous two films Dabangg and Dabangg 2 were performed overwhelmingly well.

With Salman Khan stardom already there, It seems Dabangg 3 is going to do stupendous business at the box office as it is going to be released in over 5000 screens which is a record.

According to report on Bollywood Hungama, with a target of 5400 screens Dabangg 3 is set to become Bollywood’s widest release till date. The record was previously held by Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan which released on 4950 screens.

The report quoted a source as saying, “It is releasing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, and will easily be the biggest release for a Bollywood film. Sudeep’s presence has ensured ample of demand for the action entertainer in Karnataka, and the exhibitors are very keen to screen the film during the Christmas weekend.”

The source close to the development further added, “It marks the return of Salman Khan in an avatar that he is loved in by the masses, and the trailer has done its trick in the interiors. While most of the distributors focus on getting maximum showcasing in the metro cities and national multiplex chains, team Dabangg is making it a point to reach out to the least common denominator and ensure right show-casing in the small town as well.”

While most of the single screens in India open with the matinee show at 12 or 12:30 pm, talks are on to start the showcasing of Dabangg 3 from 9:30 am. “Plans are to get a lot of single screens have early shows starting from 9:30 am, which will help team Dabangg get five shows per single screen, as compared to the conventional template of four shows a day.”

Besides Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, Dabangg 3 also features Kiccha Sudeep, Arbaaz Khan and Pramod Khanna in key roles. The film will also see Mahesh Manjrekar’s daughter Saiee Manjrekar making her Bollywood debut opposite Salman.

Directed by Prabhudeva and produced by Salma Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Nikhil Dwivedi the movie is slated to release on 20th December 2019.
