The Emmy’s were eventful for multiple reasons this year. Most notable among them was the clean sweep of awards, popular sitcom, Schitt’s Creek did in the comedy genre. Father-Son duo, Daniel and Eugene Levy, have created the series. They also co-star in it together.
After the show had a historic night at Emmy’s, co-creator Daniel Eugene, talked about the possibility of creating a film. He said that he would love to work on the big-screen adaptation of the show, only if he gets a “freaking good”, idea for the film.
The show was nominated in 15 Emmy categories. The award ceremony started with, seven straight wins for the show. This included outstanding comedy series, lead actor and actress for Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara, and supporting actor and actress for Daniel Levy and Annie Murphy.
While at the backstage, Daniel Levy, who talked about the series turning into a movie, said :
“Here’s the thing: Some people have been asking that. If there is an idea that pops into my head and worthy of these wonderful people, it has to be really freaking good at this point.”
Further, Variety reported that the actor said, the final season of the show, was a perfect end to it. Although he might bring the show back if a good idea comes along. On this, Levy had said :
“Fingers crossed that we get a really good idea coming into our heads soon. I would love to work with these beautiful people again. This has been the most incredible experience.”
Series co-creators, Daniel and Eugene also fetched awards in writing and directing categories. This made the series, a first, in winning awards in all the major categories.
A Canadian-Television sitcom, the show is about the formerly wealthy, Rose Family, who have to face problems after getting bankrupt. Forced to move in a small town, named Schitt’s Creek, they once purchased as a joke, the show follows their adventures.
At the 72nd Emmy Awards held on Sunday, it was nominated alongside shows such as, Insecure, Dead to Me, The Good Place, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Kominsky Method, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and What We Do in the Shadows.
