Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s next project is based on great lyricist-poet Sahir Ludhianvi and his relationship with novelist Amita Pritam. Recently, it was reported that the ace director has found his lead actors for the film in Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. Now, the buzz is that SBL’s favorite Deepika Padukone might replace Taapsee Pannu to play Amrita Pritam in the biopic.

According to the reports, Deepika has a strong possibility to play the novelist’s character as Bhansali wants to work with her as soon as possible. Alia Bhatt was given the role of lead actress alongside superstar Salman Khan in film ‘Inshallah’. Therefore, Bhansali has offered the prized role of Amrita Pritam which Deepika is giving a chance.

Reportedly, Deepika has put a precondition that the biopic will be renamed after both the protagonists’ name instead of Sahir Ludhianvi and the director is fine with that.

Talking about the film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had earlier said, “Sahir Saab was one of our most talented poet lyricists, his verses are still inspiring. To bring them back through his love story will be beautiful but also a huge responsibility. It’s a difficult film for the writer-director (Jasmeet Reen) too so I don’t want to be in a hurry but give it the darza it deserves”.
