Deepika Padukone is one those actresses who bring something meaningful on the screen with each of their releases. Actress is soon coming up with the story of an acid attack survivor with the movie Chhapaak. Deepika had earlier revealed that she got hooked to the story since the first time she heard it and had decided instantly that she is going to portray it on the big screen.

Recently in an interview, Deepika further revealed how she has changed as a person after doing this film. She said, “When you see my next movie in January, it’s about the story of acid attack survivors. It’s about how do we rehabilitate them and how do we make them part of our society and not discriminate.”

Talking about what she learnt from the movie, Deepika said, “I don’t think I would have studied so much about acid violence if it wasn’t for this movie. Or how it impacts them emotionally and how it impacts them financially.”

On talking about how she came out from the role after the shoot was over, Deepika said that she literally burned the prosthetic in front of her to come out of the role emotionally.

Deepika said, “On the last day of the shoot, I literally burned the prosthetic because it had impacted me in a way that I never experienced before. I think that was my way of trying to let go of everything that I had experienced during filming it. The day we finished shooting, I remember taking a piece and taking some alcohol, went into the corner, poured the alcohol and set it on fire. I stood there watching it burn until it disappeared completely in front of me”.

Deepika further said that she had to do it because this film had affected her in a way no movie had affected her.

Talking about the real life Lakhsmi, on which the movie is based, Deepika said, “She is brave and for me she stands for courage. We worked very closely with her and I don’t think this movie was possible if she wasn’t so honest and open about her journey”.

The film is set to release on January 10, 2020.
