Bollywood actress Diana Penty says that she doesn’t want to end up playing Meera again. Diana made her Bollywood debut with the 2012 movie title ‘Cocktail’, directed by Homi Adajania under the banner of Illuminati Films. The movie also features Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan in the lead. In the movie, she played the role of a girl next door with the qualities of a home maker.
Currently, she is gearing up for an upcoming Indian Bollywood comedy film titled “Lucknow Central”, which is directed by Ranjit Tiwari and produced by Nikkhil Advani, under the banner of Emmay Entertainment. The film will star Farhan Akhtar, Diana Penty, Ronit Roy and Uday Tikekar. The movie also features Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal.
Diana says that it very funny when people ask her that whether she was on a break even between shooting the two movies. She says that for doing a movie it almost takes two-three month for preparation and from a reading a script to its release, the journey spans at least a year. Moreover, she says that she did not want to end up playing the role of Meera again and again. She doesn’t chase numbers she is much more concern about the quality and she did not just want to sign stuff she is very much conscious about her roles.
According to the latest reports, there are rumors that she will soon be seeing making her cameo in the movie title ‘Happy Sequel’. On this, she says that you have asked this question to the director of the movie. She would also be seen in the movie ‘Parmanu – The Story Of Pokhran‘, which is an upcoming Indian Hindi film, directed by Abhishek Sharma and produced by Zee Studio, JA Entertainment and Kriaj Entertainment. The movie features John Abraham and Diana Penty will be in the lead roles and actor Boman Irani will be seen in a significant role. The movie is based on 1998 India’s successful nuclear tests. In the movie, ‘Parmanu – The Story Of Pokhran‘ she would be playing the role of an army officer and for her role, she has gone under kick boxing and weight training to get the kind of body movements right. However, she says that the environment on the set was very comfortable and very chilled out.
While in the movie ‘Lucknow Central’ she will be seen essaying the role of the Gayetri Kashyap, she works for an NGO. Her NGO helps the prisoners to be a good human being and reintegrate into society once they come back from jail. Her character seems very interesting because she is the only woman working inside the prison and she is working at a place which is male dominated so she is very much confident, strong headed and stubborn at times. About her role, Diana says that being an NGO worker requires a lot of dedication and passion. Earlier there was a misconception that it is just a voluntarily work so it does not require any qualification.
Earlier, the role of Gayetri was being offered to Kriti Sanon, but she walked out of the project. Then producer Nikkhil Advani called Diana and she immediately said yes to the movie. About this Diana says that she has no clue about who was being offered for this role before, but overall it worked well for everybody.
About her co-star Farhan, Diana said that he is very real with his acting and he underplayed his character just right. It was a great honor doing a movie with him and she got an interesting learning experience.
Moreover, Diana believes that she would like to be the part of the movie which has a good content. When asked what made her so secure that she did not fear to lose her visibility. On this, she said, “Whether a ‘Cocktail’, ‘Happy Bhaag Jayegi’, ‘Lucknow Central’ or ‘Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran’, these are the stories come once in a lifetime. Why should I miss out on them? I can wait because I believe in quality work.”
Diana says that she was not having any plans to become an actress, but now she is enjoying the world of cinema and the parks that are coming with it. But when asked that she has to struggle with the validation of an actress after being a model. On this Diana says that actress like Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma and much more were models before they entered into the Bollywood industry and now, they are a wonderful actress. She does not understand why people think that models cannot be a good actress.
Talking about her upcoming movie ‘Lucknow Central’, which has been set against the backdrop of a jail, is the story of an inmate who is wrongfully put behind bars and is forced to opt for the unlawful path to get his much-deserved freedom.
