Fans of Salman Khan on Twitter were subjected to a massive surprise on 17th May, when the actor uploaded a tweet of the beloved actress Disha Patani, with a caption welcoming her to the cast of upcoming movie Bharat. Bharat is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and is a remake of the South Korean drama film Ode to My Father, which follows the life of the protagonist through the events of the Korean War in the 1950s. Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, and now, Disha Patani are set to recreate the events of that movie into a that of a Bollywood drama.

Disha Patani gave a warm reply to Salman Khan’s welcome tweet on Twitter by uploading a tweet expressing her gratefulness upon becoming a part of the cast of Bharat. Disha also revealed in her tweet that she would be playing the role of a trapeze artiste in the movie, and was very excited to step up to the new challenge in her career. Disha also highlighted the fact that she was a huge fan of Ali Abbas Zafar’s work, and was looking forward towards working with him and the rest of the cast very much.

When asked about the inclusion of Patani into the cast, director Ali Abbas Zafar replied that the movie asked for the characters of Salman and Disha to be in a scene set in a circus during the ‘60s. This circus segment would apparently be a tribute to Raj Kapoor’s movie Mera Naam Joker. Ali Abbas proclaimed that her character in this segment would require an actress who was as vulnerable, as she was beautiful, while keeping the physicality of an athlete intact, and Disha Patani “fit the bill perfectly.”
