James Gunn

James Gunn has been rehired by Disney‘s Marvel Studios to direct ‘Guardian of the Galaxy 3’ after he was ousted from the project last summer because of his crude tweets from 2009 on pedophile and rape resurfaced on the net. Earlier, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3’ was confirmed by Sean Gunn, brother to the director, at ‘Captain Marvel‘ premiere.

Currently, the director is busy helming the second part of ‘Suicide Squad’ and will start working on the third part of ‘Guardian of the Galaxy 3’ after finishing the former project. James had penned the third part of the project before he was fired.

On Twitter, James Gunn broke his months-long silence and forwarded gratitude to his fans and Disney for giving him another chance.

“I am tremendously grateful to every person out there who has supported me over the past few months. I am always learning and will continue to work at being the best human being I can be,” Gunn stated.

“I deeply appreciate Disney’s decision and I am excited to continue making films that investigate the ties of love that bind us all. I have been, and continue to be incredibly humbled by your love and support. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Love to you all,” he added.

A petition also surfaced on the net titled ‘RE-HIRE JAMES GUNN’ on the website change.org. This was started by the fans which gained over 10,000 signature in support of Gunn.
