The Election Commission on Tuesday was urged to stop the release of Ram Gopal Varma‘s upcoming film ‘Lakshmi’s NTR‘ on legendary Telugu movie star and Former Cheif Minister of Andra Pradesh NT Rama Rao. As the movie could impact the coming Lok Sabha and assembly elections in Andra Pradesh.

Devibabu Choudhary, a worker of ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) wrote a petition to stop the release of Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming film ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’ which is slated to release on March 22.

Choudhary lodged a complaint against the film which is based on the Telugu Film Legend and TPD Party founder’s last year has not gone well with the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TPD) as certain Episodes in NTR’s life are historically uncomfortable for its current leadership.

He complained that the film has portrayed TPD Party founder and Former Cheif Minister of Andra Pradesh NT Rama Rao in a negative light and which could influence the voters. He demanded the film’s release be stopped till April 11.

The Election Commission has forwarded the petition to the state’s Cheif Editorial Officer for necessary action.

Andra Pradesh Lok Sabha and assembly elections are scheduled to be held on April 11 in the first phase of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections.
