Narendra Modi web series

Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh has written to the Election Commission saying that a web series on Modi streaming on the digital platform Eros Now has not been certified from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC).

Biopic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which was earlier scheduled to release on April 5, was postponed because the Election Commission of India halted the movie’s released until the elections are over.

The stall order by election commission said that such films “affect the level playing field which is not in consonance with the provisions of Model Code of Conduct.”

In its order on April 10, the EC had said, “Any biopic material in the nature of biography/hagiography sub-serving the purposes of any political entity or any individual entity connected to it, which is intended to, or which has the potential to disturb the level playing field during the elections, should not be displayed in electronic media during the operation of MCC.”

The Umesh Shukla directorial web series ‘Modi- Journey Of A Common Man’ stars Faisal Khan, Ashish Sharma, and Mahesh Thakur, portraying PM Modi at different stages of his life. The series was premiered earlier this month and is streaming on Eros Now.
