A director and an actor, both par excellence are reuniting once again. Ridley Scott and Joaquin Phoenix are the director-actor duos, coming together again. They last worked in Scott’s Oscar-winning, Gladiator, which starred Joaquin Phoenix as the villain.

This time, they are working on a film, titled Kitbag. It is going to be on the French military leader and emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte. Phoenix will portray the role of the historic emperor.

Recently only, Ridley Scott has finished shooting his next film, The Last Duel set at 20th Century Studios, in Ireland, while this new development has come forward at the same time.

Phoenix and Scott’s film, Kitbag’s title is derived from a very interesting saying. The saying goes as,There is a general’s staff hidden in every soldier’s kitbag”.

Further Deadline reported that Kitbag is going to be an original take on Napoleon’s rise and his origins. His ascension towards the status of an emperor and his volatile relationship with his wife, and true love, Josephine will be explored in the film.

The makers intend to capture Napoleon’s famous battles, relentless ambition, and an unparalleled strategic mind. Penning the script of the film is David Scarpa, who also wrote Ridley Scott’s 2017 film, All The Money In The World.

Kitbag is set at the 20th Century Studios, with Scott’s production banner, Scott Free having a deal. Ridley Scott and Kevin Walsh are the producers.

While the choice of Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon looks impressive to us. The actor is known for his eclectic performances and roles. His oscar-winning stint as the Joker in last year’s Joker(2019), makes his casting a sound decision from the makers part.
