The ninth installment of the famous and most liked ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise has been postponed again for the second time. Earlier its release date was shifted for a year, this time it has been delayed for six months.

According to the Variety reports, ‘Fast and Furious 9’ was slated to release on April 9, 2018, later it was moved back a year to April 10 and then again postponed to May 22, 2020.

With a new release date, the film has got new competitors. It will now face Warner
Bros./Legendary’s ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ and Paramount’s ‘The Spongebob Movie.’

All the previous movies of the series were blockbusters and did great business at the international box office. All the action movies were loved and appreciated globally. The eighth film ‘The Fate of the Furious’ had managed to gross USD 1.2 billion worldwide and was directed, F. Gary Gray.

The series stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Scott Eastwood, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky, Kurt Russell, and Charlize Theron.

All the movies together have grossed USD 5 million worldwide since it first released in 2001. However, the seventh part of the series titled ‘Furious 7’, in which Late actor Paul Walker featured for the last time, is the top performer, having drawn USD 1.5 billion globally.

The spinoff ‘Fast & Furious Presents- Hobbs & Shaw’ hits theaters on August 2. The film sees Dwayne Johnson’s former U.S. Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s ex-MI6 agent Deckard Shaw joining forces to take on Idris Elba’s international terrorist Brixton.
