Finally, Hollywood can start to get back to work. The California state officials are saying that film and television shooting can start the latest by June 12. The news comes as respite for the film industry suffering from huge losses and delays due to the Coronavirus.

The California Department of Health, in a press release stated that before the starting of shooting, producers need to obtain permission from the respective state local health departments. Guidelines to stop the virus from spreading are already in place. Last week, major Hollywood studios and labor unions joined to frame them. As per their guidelines, daily testing, monitoring of temperatures of the cast and crew along with proper sanitation is crucial.

Big studios such as Walt Disney Co (DIS.N), Netflix Inc (NFLX.O), AT&T Inc’s (T.N) Warner Bros and Comcast Corp’s (CMCSA.O) NBCUniversal, plus unions including SAG-AFTRA, IATSE and the Directors Guild of America came together for framing the guidelines.

The state health department have urged all the producers to follow the guidelines before starting any work and receiving clearances from the state department is their topmost necessity. Further before issuing any clearance, the state health departments need to check the number of cases in the state, measures to counter increase in cases, availability of proper testing materials and other equipments.

Production work of all the films and tv shows was halted worldwide since March because of the Coronavirus pandemic. This fresh piece of news will surely act as shot in the ailing arm of many film producers.
