Gully Boy, Alia and Ranveer’s next is slated to release on Valentine’s next year. The actors shared the first look of the film on their social media handles and looked extremely excited about the same.

The film that also stars actors Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Varma and Kalki Koechlin in pivotal roles, talks about street rappers is based in the slums of Mumbai.

Zoya Akhthar, the director of the film happened to attend few shows of rappers Naezy and Divine who were also the focus point in the documentary Bombay 70. It was there that she spotted them and stumbled upon the idea to make this film.

The rapper, when asked about his perception on the idea said, “If you’re writing a film about hip-hop, the most important thing is you should be a good writer. Zoya had come for one of our shows; that’s how she discovered us. Then she visited the place where we lived and I was more than happy to chat with her and Reema (Kagti, partner in scriptwriting) and tell them everything about the [hip-hop] scene. I don’t know the story, but we’re a part of the film and its music. We will be going on the sets, as the shooting has started. Hopefully, Gully Boy mein bhi aayega kuchh hamara!”
