After opening to promising numbers on first day, Frozen 2 has done excellent business in the first weekend at Indian box office. While the film collected Rs 3.25 crore on Friday, it saw a good growth on Saturday and consolidated it on Sunday.

According to a report on Box Office India, film collected Rs 6.75 crore and Rs 8.25 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively putting the total figure at Rs 18.25 crore. The weekend collection of Frozen 2 is over six times the lifetime business of Frozen that saw a business of Rs 2.90 crore.

Frozen 2 is the sequel to the 2013 film Frozen and features the return of directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, producer Peter Del Vecho, songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, and composer Christophe Beck.

Since it is an animation film whose major target audience is kids, the growth in collection was expected on weekend but the extent of growth is impressive. The Monday collection is crucial for the film and it remains to be seen what numbers it brings during the rest of the weekdays.

Even before its release on 22 November, the film created quite a buzz among the Indian fans when it was announced that global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her cousin actress Parineeta Chopra would be doing the voice-over for Elsa and Anna.

Priyanka shared her feelings of working with her sister Parineeti for the first time on a Twitter post. “Being sisters, we used to talk to each other about doing something together. I mean it can’t get more iconic than this if we had to ever kick-start something. It was best as Elsa and Anna,” she said. Her post read, “Call it luck or destiny, but I’ve voiced some strong, amazing characters for Disney. Voicing Elsa was a joy, & working with my baby sister Parineeti Chopra was an added bonus.”
