It’s been more than six months since the finale season of HBO’s Game of Thrones concluded. Now it’s creators, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are moving to their next project. It will be a horror thriller titled Lovecraft, as per the reports by The Hollywood Reporter

It will based on the eponymous graphic novel by Hans Rodionoff and Keith Giffen. The script is being written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi and the project will be backed by Warner Bros.

The 2004 novel traces the life of popular American author H.P. Lovecraft, who was known for writing horror and weird fiction novels. Cthulhu Mythos, a fictional universe based on Lovercraft’s writings, has inspired a larger body of games, music and other media which are collectively known as the “Lovecraftian horror.”

The rights of the graphic novel, Lovecraft, were optioned by Warner Bros around three years ago.

Benioff and Weiss had received backlash from the audiences due to their hasty treatment of the final and eighth season of Game of Thrones, which became one of the lowest scored season of the entire series on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.

The show has, however, seen many acting nominations and won at the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Gold Derby Awards. The duo were working on a Star Wars trilogy film, which got shelved.
