On the 26th of May, 2018, renowned actor Geeta Kapoor took her leave from the world in a peaceful death owing to natural causes in an old age home near the SRV Hospital in Mumbai. The news of her passing away was announced by producer Ashoke Pandit, who was a very close friend of the 67-year-old actress and had stood by her side ever since she was admitted to the hospital.

Ashoke Pandit broke the sad news to the public by announcing that at 9:00 am in the morning, Geeta Kapoor had finally breathed her last. She had been waiting to see her beloved children, Raja, a choreographer, and Pooja, an air hostess, at least once before she inevitably shut her eyes. However, neither of them had attempted to contact her ever since they had dropped her off at the SRV Hospital in Mumbai. Despite several attempts to keep her happy and improve her mental health, Ashoke Pandit confirmed that due to old age and other complications, Geeta Kapoor’s body was not able to support her anymore.

Geeta Kapoor was definitely one of the best actors of her generation – showing her splendid acting skills in over 100 movies like Razia Sultan, and Jamal Amrohi’s Pakeeza, where she gained much critical acclaim for portraying lead Rajkumar’s second wife. Soon after stating this unfortunate news, Ashoke Pandit announced on Twitter that him and close friend producer Ramesh Taurani had decided to keep Geeta’s body safe in a morgue at Cooper Hospital in Mumbai and cremate her later, unless she was claimed by either of her children. Hours later, he updated that her daughter, Pooja Kapoor had finally arrived at the Amboli Police Station where she intended to receive her mother’s body to prepare for a private funeral.
