Warner Bros. Animation finally announced that they have been preparing to release George R. R. Martin’s earlier novels like The Ice Dragon by bringing the entire story to life as an animated movie. George R. R. Martin was also announced to have been taking part in the development of his novel as a producer of the upcoming film within the company.
The Ice Dragon had been published by the American writer back in 1980, and therefore, is not expected to take place in the world of Ice and Fire. The fantasy novel revolved around the occurrences in the life of a young girl who befriended a supposedly dangerous Ice Dragon following the unfortunate death of her mother. This beautiful friendship between her and the dragon is what saves their land from an attack by the Fire Dragons one day. This fantasy, thus, is not related or influenced by the world where Game of Thrones is believed to take place, which is simply because that world didn’t exist when George R. R. Martin wrote this book. However, for all the fans who had been eagerly waiting for the next and final season of Game of Thrones, HBO is expected to film and release it by the middle of 2019.
Regarding The Ice Dragon, however, the animation is expected to be going on at a steady pace, with George R. R. Martin’s manager, Vince Gerardis also acquired the post of an executive professor in the upcoming animated film. From Warner Bros. Animation Group, senior chiefs like Allison Abbate, and Chris Leahy have taken it upon themselves to oversee the steady development and timely release of the film.
