After being delayed for so many years, Director Pushpendra Nath Misra’s Ghoomketu was finally released yesterday, all thanks to the Evolution of OTT platforms in India. The film is streaming exclusively on Zee5. The trailer received a massive response from the fans, as it was their favourite duo sharing screen, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Anurag Kashyap. But did the film match up to the expectations of the fans?

Nawaz is seen playing Ghoomketu, an aspiring writer from Uttar Pradesh who dreams of making a well established career as a screenwriter in Mumbai. And for the same, he runs away from his hometown and his family files a missing complaint and urges the case to be handled by a Mumbai based cop.

The case is then handed over to Badlani (Anurag Kashyap) who is totally disinterested in doing his job, with a fact that he solved no cases in his career spanning 15 years. The premise seems pretty interesting when it comes to a fun-filled comical film and also with a talented cast including power-packed cameos by Ranveer Singh, Sonakshi Sinha, Chitrangda Singh and Amitabh Bachchan.

But the film lets us down due to it’s weak writing and poor screenplay. Adding to it is the unnecessary elements in the film which is a result of poor editing. Though the film has it’s strong points in a few scenes but overall it turns out as a disappointment.

Ghoomketu is good for one-time watch.
