The trailer of upcoming Hollywood fantasy comedy film Ghostbusters: Afterlife was released on 9 December.

The two minutes thirty four seconds long video gives a Stranger Things vibe due to its similar setting and story line from the Netflix series and also has its actor Finn Wolfhard in a pivotal role.

One major shift in the trailer is the substantial lack of humour which has been the identity of the Ghostbusters franchise. The focus is more on the dramatic stuff this time.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is the fourth film in the Ghostbusters franchise and is set to be the direct sequel to the original 1984 Ghostbusters and its 1989 sequel Ghostbusters II. The story is set thirty years after the 1989 film and follows a small town family experiencing supernatural forces.

The makers have decided to deviate from the 2016 all women Ghostbusters plot. The film was also severely criticised by fans and its trailer became one of the most disliked YouTube videos of all time.

The film stars Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace, along with others. The cast of the original film like Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson will be reprising their roles.

Directed by Academy and Golden Globe nominee Jason Reitman, Ghostbusters: Afterlife is slated to hit theaters on 10 July, 2020.
