After a battle that the cast and crew had to fight to release the film, the film was released across Indian theaters on 25th January. The original release date of 1 December was rescheduled due to the numerous protests by Karni Sena and other organisations, who were blinded by a rumour that said, that the film had a dream romantic sequence between Ranveer and Deepika’s characters. However, like all rumours this one was baseless and absolutely untrue.

After a lot of legal procedures, even when the film finally released on 25th of January, there were three states that went against the SC’s order and banned it for security purposes. However, now the film is finally slated to release this week in one of the three states – Madhya Pradesh.

Central Circuit Cine Association President Jaiprakash Chouksey said, “We had sought security cover from the state government for cinema halls and audiences for the screening of Padmaavat. The officials concerned assured us to provide security cover during the film’s screening. “Accordingly, Padmaavat might be screened on February 8 in Indore and elsewhere in the state.”

“The cinema owners have sought security cover for the release of the movie on February 8. We have made preparations to provide security cover at the cinema halls for the release of the movie,” Indore range deputy inspector general H C Mishra said.
