After giving an impressive performance in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, actor Siddhant Chaturvedi is all set to share the screen space with actor Deepika Padukone. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the two will star in a Shakun Batra’s next directorial project that will be produced by Karan Johar and will go on the floors in March next year.

The report cited a source close to the development saying that the film is about relationships in the modern world and revolves around two couples, one of which is played by Padukone and Chaturvedi. “Shakun wanted to cast a fresh face alongside Deepika and he felt Siddhant fit the bill,” the source informed.

Batra discussed the script with the actor-duo a couple of months ago and both instantly agreed to come on board. “Deepika has not done a film in this space for a while, and Siddhant is keen to portray different characters in the early days of his career,” the source stated.

While Padukone has previously worked with Johar as a producer in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, it will be Chaturvedi’s first film with Dharma Productions. It was his performance in Gully Boy that played a crucial role in getting him this fim.

Batra was working on several subjects before zeroing down this one. Johar also felt that film  falls right in Batra’s zone of filmmaking. “It’s a special script for both Shakun and Karan, and they are raring to take the film on the floors next year. It is set in India and the team is currently working on the logistics and finalising the locations,” the source told the news daily. “Apart from Deepika and Siddhant, the film features two more prominent actors.”

Both Padukone and Chaturvedi are reported to attend character development workshops with their director Batra early next year.
