Zoya Akhtar‘s ‘Gully Boy‘ had a great start as it has got a double-digit on its first day at the box office. The film collected ₹18.70 crores on the Valentine’s Day and the collections are expected to go up from this day with the positive reviews flowing in.

Trade analyst and film critic, Taran Adarsh has tweeted the latest collection reports, He wrote, “#GullyBoy takes a massive start… #ValentineDay – not an official holiday – has given a big boost… Metros are rocking, contribute to superb total… Thu ₹18.70 cr [3350 screens]. India biz.”

‘Gully Boy’ is Ranveer Singh‘s second-highest opening ever after ‘Simmba’ and for Alia Bhatt its the highest first day earning among her films.

The film is directed by Zoya Akhtar, an undergod story about a poor guy from Dharavi named Murad (Ranveer), whose dreams are bigger than his reality. He beats all the odds to become a successful rapper. The movie puts a shining light on India’s emerging rap culture and is inspired by the lives of rappers Naezy and Divine.

It collected ₹7 crores net in Mumbai circuit and had an average opening in Gujarat. Delhi/UP circuit observed a decent opening of ₹3.50 crores. The film has done well in South India as it collected ₹1.50 crores in Mysore and ₹1 crore from Nizam/Andra.

‘Gully Boy’ will observe a four-day weekend collection.
