Actress Gurleen Chopra is all set to step into shoes of the former bank MD and CEO Chanda Kochhar for her upcoming film. A report on The Times of India suggests the film in question is called Chanda and it is based on the life of Chanda Kochhar.
Gurleen made her debut in 2003 with Lawrence D’Souza’s film Indian Babu and has acted in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Punjabi, as well as Marathi films. She was last seen in the movie Game Over.
Now, Gurleen will be playing the role of Chanda, a strong, career-oriented woman and someone who is fiercely protective about her family. Talking about her experience of playing the role, the 29-year-old actress said, “All of us have worked very hard on Chanda. It is my very first time where I am depicting a real-life person who has such a rock-solid demeanor. I hope I have done justice to my character and hoping that all of you enjoy the film.”
The movie will also have actors like Pushpendra Tiwari and Aditya Verma playing pivotal roles. Produced by Manoj Nandwana, S. Akhileswaran and directed by Ajay Singh, Chanda wishes to convey a simple yet strong message to the audience that the society must look upon men and women as equals and should not discriminate amongst them on the basis of irrelevant parameters.
The film is said to have a screening at the Goa Film Festival on November 28.
Chanda Kochhar is the former MD and chief executive officer of ICICI Bank. She stepped down from her position in October last year following allegations of corruption.
