Aijaz Khan’s ‘Hamid‘ hit theatres today and adaptation of Mohammed Amin Bhat’s play, ‘Hamid’ is a beautiful portrayal of love and hope. The film is set in one of the most troubled and militarised zones of the world, Kashmir. The story of the film is about the conflict of Kashmir through the eyes of an eight-year-old boy who develops an incredible friendship with a CRPF soldier.

When Rehmat (Sumit Kaul), father to seven-year-old Hamid (Talha Arshad Reshi), goes missing, his wife Ishrat (Rasika Dugal) leaves no stone unturned to find him, like every other woman of the valley. She goes to the police to file an FIR and then to the morgue to find her husband.

But little Hamid discovers a unique way to find his father. When he comes to know of the religious number “786” and after being told that it is Allah’s number, he decides to call him and ask him about his father’s whereabouts.

He dials the number and the call is received by a CRPF soldier (Vikas Kumar) who is going through his own share of ups and downs. Keeping aside his own problems, the Jawan talks to him as Allah and the two start bonding over the phone call.

It might seem like a simple and straight story, it has its own beautifully woven complications and Aijaz Khan has told a thousand tales and conveyed a thousand emotions through it.

Being a medium budget, the movie the film has top-level production quality and impeccable performances by Talha Arshad Reshi, Rasika Dugal, Vikas Kumar, and Sumit Kaul. Talha is the heart and soul of the film and looks adorable throughout.

“The story of ‘Hamid’ is of a relationship between a CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) trooper and an eight-year-old Kashmiri boy by the name of Hamid. The film was made with the attempt to bridge the gap of alienation because that is the very root cause of what is happening in the valley,” Aijaz Khan had earlier said in a statement.
