Juhi Chawla on death threats to Deepika Padukone: The threats were not right!

Actress Juhi Chawla is one of the most accomplished people from the Hindi film industry with a long and successful career.

A trained kathak expert and a classical singer, Juhi was the winner of the 1984 Miss India contestant.

She recently turned a year older and on the occasion of her birthday, here are ten of her iconic films from her nearly 30 year long career.

1. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak – This 1988 Mansoor Khan directed romance film made Juhi Chawla a household name who had done two films and a tv serial before.

It was a major critical and commercial success and earned Juhi the Filmfare Award for Lux New Face of the Year. The film was a modern take on the classic love stories and is credited for paving the way for the Bollywood musical films in the upcoming years.

2. Pratibandh – This action film was directed by Ravi Raja Pinisetty and was Chiranjeevi’s first Hindi film. It was a remake of the 1989 Telugu flick ‘Ankusam’ and earned Juhi a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

3. Bol Radha Bol – This 1992 David Dhawan directed film saw Juhi play the role of the title character of a village girl. It earned her third Filmfare nomination for Best Actress.

4. Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman – The film was directed by Aziz Mirza and co-starred Shah Rukh Khan. It was the first film with Juhi-Shah Rukh pair. The film was a major critical and commercial hit.

5. Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke – The film gave a massive boost to Juhi’s career and earned her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress. It was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and co-starred Aamir Khan; it was inspired by the 1958 film ‘House Boat.’

6. Darr – The film which is known for the stuttering dialogues from Shah Rukh Khan, also had Juhi in the playing a protagonist. The Yash Chopra-directed film met with critical acclaim and was a blockbuster.

7. Yes Boss – This film was another feature on Juhi’s cap as it was a massive critical and box-office success and earned her a Filmfare nomination. Directed by Aziz Mirza and co-starring Shah Rukh Khan, it continued the successful Aziz-SRK-Juhi pair.

8. Ishq – Juhi continued trailblazing the box-office with this Indra Kumar-directed romantic comedy film. The film had an ensemble cast of Ajay Devgn, Kajol, Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla.

9. I Am – The film marked Juhi’s comeback in Bollywood after a brief sabbatical. It was directed by Onir and had several stories based on real incident. She was nominated for another Filmfare Award.

10. Gulaab Gang – This 2014 drama film by Soumik Sen marked the first time where Juhi and Madhuri Dixit shared the screen together. It was based on the the real gulaabi gang and her performance was well received. The film, however, proved to be a flop.
