Based on Stephen Kings Novel of the same name, “The Outsider” had a very successful run on HBO. It held a strong viewership across the entire series. The series finale held a viewership of 2.2 million views across all platforms.

The star cast of the series includes Jason Bateman, who is also the executive producer of the show, Cynthia Erivo, and Ben Mendelsohn.

HBO, however, has canceled the show and will not be streaming season 2. The cancellation decision for the series came eight months after the series finale that aired in March.

“We enjoyed our collaboration with Richard, Jason (Bateman), Andrew (Bernstein), and the MRC team, and we wish them well in continuing the world created by the brilliant Stephen King,” HBO said in a statement.

It is a shocking piece of information as the showrunner Richard Price is actively advancing towards season 2 of the series.

This show produced by MRC television is now looking for a new home for the Outsider. It has released many hit series in the past like the House of cards and Ozark.

As season 1 of The Outsider is entirely based, on the events in Stephens Kings‘ novel, the audience can expect much more in season 2.  It centers around Erivos’ holly character and expands the realm of Stephen Kings’ universe.

It is, however, good news for all those who devoured season 1 and are now waiting for a season 2.

Though there are rumors for a second season, it all depends on whether MRC Television can find a new home for the series soon.
