List of highest grossing Telugu Movies : Bharat Ane Nenu, Rangasthalam and more

Telugu cinema is known for its entertainment quality; the movies are helmed by actors with big box office clout who create projects keeping in mind the sensibilities of the audience. And so far, it has succeeded in providing ample amount of joy to the people, as is evidenced by the growing number of box office hits despite the regional language.

This is the list of the highest grossing Telugu movies:

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, 2017

Directed by S. S. Rajamouli and starring Prabhas, this sequel to the fantasy epic was one of the most awaited movies of the decade. And when it arrived at the screens, the audience rushed to see the conclusion of the bloody tale. Baahubali: The conclusion made 1810 crores at the box office.

Baahubali: The Beginning, 2015

The beginning of S. S. Rajamouli’s fantasy epic with Prabhas in the lead, ushered in a new style of epic movie filmmaking in India. The success of the project was doubted by many, but at the end, Baahuali made 650 at the box office, and went on to become the highest grossing Indian movie of all time, until its sequel arrived in the theaters.

Bharat Ane Nenu, 2018

Mahesh Babu starred it this political action movie, directed by Koratala Siva, with Kiara Advani and Prakash Raj in the supporting roles. The plot revolves around, Bharat (Mahesh Babu) who tries to change the political system after becoming chief minister. The movie got rapturous response from the audience and was able to make 225 crores at the box office.

Rangasthalam, 2018

Directed by Sukumar, Rangasthalam was the tale of two brothers Chittibabu (played by Ram Charan) and Kumar Babu (Aadhi Pinisetty) who join forces to oppose the local government and co-operative society’s president, Phanindra Bhupati (Jagapati Babu). The movie was a super hit, grossing a total of 218 crores at the box office.

Khaidi No. 150, 2017

Starring Chiranjeevi and Kajal Aggarwal, Khaidi No. 150 was a crime drama with plenty of intrigue. It also marked Chiranjeevi’s return to the big screen after ten years. The audience welcomed him with open arms, and helped the movie gain a whopping 167 crores during its time in the theaters.

Srimanthudu, 2015

This action thriller, starring Mahesh Babu and Shruti Hassan was a full package of entertainment and drama; with a storyline that mixed romance, action and politics. The movie was a hit among the audience and made 143 crores.

Attraintiki Daredi, 2013

Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, and starring Pawan Kalyan, this story about loyalty to one’s elders was loved by the audience and made 129 crores at the box office, from a budget of 57 crores. Pranitha Subhash was the female lead of the movie. 

Magadheera, 2009

This epic fantasy movie was mounted on a massive scale, with a reported budget of 39 crores. Starring Ram Charan and Kajal Aggarwal, the audience loved the visuals and the intricate plot which took place in different timelines. It was a super-hit, with a gross of 125 crores at the box office.

Sarrainodu,  2016

With a budget of 54 crores, this action thriller starring Allu Arjun and Catharine Tresa, Sarrainodu proved to be successful because of its massy content and made a healthy 125 crores worldwide. It was directed by Boyapati Srinu, and had Rakul Preet Kaur and Aadhi Pinisetty in the supporting roles. 

Janatha Garage, 2016

N.T Rama Rao Jr starred in this action movie as an environmental activist whose life changes after an unexpected encounter with Sathyam, a man who manages an organization which helps the oppressed. The audience were wowed by the storyline, and helped the movie collect 125 crores at the box office during its lifetime.

Jai Lava Kusa, 2017

A tale of identical triplets who don’t like each other, Jai Lava Kusa was directed by K. S. Ravindra, and starred N. T. Rama Rao Jr in the lead role(s). The movie was financially successful, and made 125 crores at the box office with the help of the enthusiastic audience.
